 Atiku emerges winner with 58,566 votes

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar won the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary in Anambra State, receiving 58,566 votes.

The results were announced on Wednesday in Awka by Hon. Nduaka Nworisara, chairman of the 11‑member ADC Primary Election Committee for the state.

According to Nworisara, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi came in second with 17,085 votes, while Dr. Mohammed Hayatu‑Deen placed third with 7,861 votes.

He reported that 83,512 registered party members voted across 326 wards in the state, noting that the ADC’s membership register in Anambra totals 99,349.

Nworisara described the exercise as peaceful and orderly, praising party members for their conduct during the primaries.

Dr. Ndubuisi Nwobu, who served as the party’s running mate in the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, and Hon. Ben‑chuks Nwosu, chairman of the party’s membership mobilisation committee in the state, also spoke about the smooth conduct of the election.

Nwobu called Anambra a stronghold of the ADC and expressed confidence that the party would achieve significant success in the state during the 2027 general elections.
