Amusan Secures Nigeria’s First Gold Medal at ASAC 2026

World record holder Tobi Amusan secured the women’s 100‑metre hurdles title at the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championships on Wednesday.

Her victory marked Nigeria’s first gold medal of the event.

With this win, Amusan has claimed the women’s 100‑metre hurdles title at the African Senior Athletics Championships on three occasions.

Ashley Miller of Zimbabwe earned the silver medal, while fellow Nigerian Adaobi Tabugbo took bronze.

It was Tabugbo’s first individual medal for Nigeria at a major championship.

At Accra 2026, the Nigerian team has accumulated one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.
