World record holder Tobi Amusan aims to defend her women’s 100 m hurdles title at the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championship, according to Completesports.com.

She advanced to the final after winning her heat with a season‑best 12.82 seconds.

The 29‑year‑old will chase a third championship at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra on Wednesday.

Amusan Wants Another Title

The Nigerian athlete said she is focused on the upcoming competition.

“I’m thankful to be here, representing my country, step by step on the line. I’m looking forward to defending my title tomorrow,” Amusan told reporters.

“I’m just here doing my thing. It’s an amazing atmosphere. Ghana is always welcoming when it hosts a championship like this. I’m excited to be here.”

On Season’s Target

The former world champion also stressed the need to manage her schedule carefully ahead of a demanding season.

“My coaches and I sat down before the season started and discussed which races to enter. With the few events we selected, I’m managing my body,” Amusan said.

“Since 2023 I have dealt with a series of injuries. Behind the scenes, I’m listening to my body and taking things easy this year,” she added.
