The Association of Media and Communication Researchers of Nigeria (AMCRON) has joined Crossref, the world’s largest registry of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) and metadata used in scholarly research.
Professor Eserinune McCarty Mojaye, AMCRON’s president, said that every work produced by the organization—including all articles in its flagship Journal of Communication and Media Research (JCMR)—will now receive Crossref DOIs, linking them to more than 180 million records from over 25 000 member organisations across 167 countries.
He added that AMCRON can generate Crossref DOIs for its publications using a unique DOI prefix, and that each member will be able to obtain personal user credentials via AMCRON to register their own content with Crossref.
Crossref, the pioneer in adopting DOIs for scholarly research, is closely associated with the DOI system and aims to build a comprehensive research nexus that connects objects, scholars, and institutions.
The platform handles about 1.4 billion DOI resolutions each month, representing 93 % of global DOI activity.
Mojaye expressed pride in joining the worldwide Crossref community.
