Nollywood veteran Kate Henshaw expressed shock and regret after the death of popular actor Alex Ekubo, saying she had been trying to contact him without realizing how serious his condition was.
The announcement of Ekubo’s death at age 40 sent shockwaves through the Nigerian entertainment industry on Tuesday, after the actor reportedly succumbed to cancer.
Henshaw took to her X account and initially posted a message that reflected her disbelief.
“I just heard a terrible news! Father Lord plsssss ,” she wrote.
When a fan asked whether she knew how long the actor had been ill, Henshaw said she had been kept in the dark and explained that she had been sending him messages that received no reply.

The discussion about the actor’s death turned more somber when an X user, the_beardedsina, commented on the devastating impact of the disease.
“Cancer has really taken so many lives. One day, we will have a total cure. Rest in peace, Alexx Ekubo,” the user wrote.
“I hope it comes really quick! It is needed urgently,” Henshaw replied.
PUNCH reports that Ekubo’s passing was confirmed on Tuesday by his colleagues and industry allies.
Leading the tributes, actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele posted on her Instagram story, noting her own attempts to see the actor before he died.
“Rest in peace, Alex. I tried to reach out to see you one more time, but I guess you knew best. May your kind soul rest in peace, Alex,” she wrote.
