ABUJA — Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller‑General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), reiterated the agency’s commitment to deepening cooperation with customs administrations and diplomatic missions worldwide to improve trade facilitation and border management.
A statement from the NCS said Adeniyi made the remarks at a diplomatic reception held at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
The reception gathered ambassadors, high commissioners, heads of diplomatic missions and senior government officials to discuss shared interests and potential areas for collaboration.
Speaking to the attendees, Adeniyi highlighted the need for ongoing engagement with international partners to advance trade relations and support customs administration.
“We recognize and appreciate your contributions to strengthening diplomatic and trade relations. The Service remains committed to providing the support and services required for diplomatic missions to operate effectively in Nigeria,” he said.
The Customs chief noted that the NCS has established collaboration frameworks with more than 20 customs administrations worldwide, focusing on knowledge sharing, capacity building and operational cooperation.
He said that closer cooperation among customs administrations, diplomatic missions and relevant agencies is essential for improving trade processes, strengthening border management and supporting economic development.
Adeniyi added that modern customs administration operates in an increasingly interconnected global environment that demands continuous engagement and collaboration among international partners.
He emphasized that platforms such as the diplomatic reception offer opportunities for dialogue, relationship‑building and the exploration of new areas of cooperation.
The event included networking sessions and goodwill messages from participants, who praised the Nigeria Customs Service for its efforts to promote international cooperation and institutional partnerships.
Attendees also included the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, the Inspector‑General of Police, Olatunji Disu, senior government officials, security chiefs and members of the Customs management team.
