An Ibadan chief, Oloye Adegboyega Adegoke, has been declared the winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial primary election.

The election was held on Friday across the state.

Daily Post reports that the results were announced on Saturday evening.

Chairman of the primary committee, Hon. Rasak Salinsile, stated that Adegoke received 16,051 votes to become the victor.

Adegoke, who also serves as the Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, won after defeating four other aspirants.

The other candidates were Chief Bisi Ilaka, who polled 11,415 votes; Chief Gbemilade Alagbe, who polled 241 votes; Dr. Azeez Adeduntan, who scored 155 votes; and Barrister Niyi Aborishade, who scored 67 votes.

Salinsile explained that the delay in announcing the results was due to the state’s large size.

He added that results from some areas were received on Saturday afternoon.

Adegoke, speaking after the announcement, pledged people‑oriented projects if elected.

He said he is ready to collaborate with the other four aspirants to win the general election.

“I am ready to work with everybody. We will work together. We will brainstorm together for the betterment of Oyo State.”

“I will bring incremental development to Oyo State. Where the present government stops, that is where we will start.”
