The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, has declared that the party will not be swayed by political manoeuvring.
Abdullahi made this statement on Monday during an interview on Arise Television’s “Prime Time.”
This came after Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to immediately deregister the ADC, Accord Party and other parties from participating in the 2027 general elections.
Responding to the ruling, the ADC’s spokesperson said, “ADC won’t bow before dictatorship. We won’t be intimidated by this kind of shenanigans. We are a law‑abiding party, and we believe we still have faith in the institution of judiciary, regardless of what individual judges are doing at the lower level or at whatever level, and that’s why we are saying justice be done.”
“By Tuesday morning, ADC will be in the Court of Appeal. Ours is a party that was born out of adversity, and we are accustomed to challenges like these,” he added.
“We are not distracted by them. Despite the obstacles, we have built a formidable political party and carried out one of the most ambitious internal democratic exercises in the country.”
“What we achieved during our primaries is unprecedented and sets a standard that no other political party in Nigeria has matched.”
