ADC presidential ticket: Dino Melaye praises Atiku, saying “You did it like Arsenal.”

Dino Melaye, a former Kogi West Senator, praised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar after the latter was chosen as the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Melaye compared Atiku’s success in the ADC’s primary to Arsenal’s recent triumph in the English Premier League, writing on X, “Boss, you did it just like Arsenal.”

Tunde Ogbeha, who oversaw the ADC presidential primary, announced on Wednesday night that Atiku had won the election.

Ogbeha reported that Atiku received 1,846,370 votes, defeating two other contenders: Mohammed Hayatu‑Deen and Rotimi Amaechi.

Amaechi garnered 504,117 votes, while Hayatu‑Deen received 177,120 votes.

Atiku will be seeking the presidency for the sixth time in 2027. He has previously run in 2007, 2019, and 2023.

On May 19, Arsenal celebrated its first English Premier League title in 22 years after a 1‑1 draw with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, which secured the championship for the Gunners.
