Adamawa South Senator Yaroe says Tinubu and the APC have failed his constituents.

Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, the representative for Adamawa South Zone in the National Assembly, has declined to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that the party has failed his constituents.

Yaroe previously defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He argued that switching to the APC would have constituted a betrayal of the trust placed in him.

Speaking at an event, he said that the Federal Government’s ongoing neglect of the Adamawa Southern zone leaves him with no basis to campaign for the APC‑led administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Now a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Yaroe said he would have contemplated defecting to the APC if it had ensured presidential assent to his proposed Federal University of Education, Numan bill.

He noted that after years of legislative work and resources devoted to the bill, its rejection by the presidency represented a painful setback for both him and his constituents.

Addressing a crowd in Numan as he announced his intention to run for Senate re‑election under the ADC, Yaroe said, “If they had told me that joining APC would guarantee the passage of the Federal University of Education Numan bill, I would have risked my political future for the interest of my people.

“But after everything we did in the Senate, the bill was denied assent. How then can I go to my people and campaign for the APC? There is practically nothing to show them.”

He added that, beyond the university issue, southern Adamawa remains one of Nigeria’s most neglected regions, even though it comprises nine local government areas.

He noted that he is among fifteen senators who resisted pressure to join the APC.

“Senatorial representation is a trust. I cannot betray the people who elected me simply to protect my political interest,” he said.
