The Adamawa State Government has launched its 2026 seasonal campaign to protect residents from malaria.
The initiative includes administering malaria medicines to children and distributing mosquito nets to households.
During the flag‑off on Thursday, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri explained that the 2026 Integrated Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) and Insecticide‑Treated Net (ITN) Campaign is designed to lessen the state’s malaria burden.
The campaign will provide 2.583 million insecticide‑treated mosquito nets and deliver 4.5 million doses of antimalarial medicines to children aged 3 to 59 months.
Governor Fintiri’s deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, represented him at the Yola flag‑off and described the event as a milestone in the state’s collective fight against malaria.
She said the government acknowledges malaria’s devastating impact on families and communities and remains committed to implementing effective interventions.
“The success of malaria control efforts relies heavily on strong partnerships,” Farauta said, praising implementing partners, including the Society for Family Health (SFH), Management Sciences for Health (MSH), and Catholic Relief Services (CRS), for their collaboration.
During the event, Benjamin Nashon, Programme Manager of the State Malaria Elimination Programme, thanked the state government and partners for their dedication to eliminating malaria.
