Award‑winning Nollywood actor Bucci Franklin discussed his upbringing, describing it as “messy” and noting that he was raised solely by his mother after his father left the family.

In a candid interview with media personality Chude Jidenowo, Franklin explained that his father’s absence had a detrimental effect on him, eventually leading him to use drugs in an attempt to fill the void.

“I was a hot mess as a child. My dad abandoned me. My mom raised me alone, and I turned to drugs,” Franklin said.

He added that his mother’s persistent effort and support enabled him to overcome the addiction.

Franklin attributes his personal and professional achievements to his mother’s influence.

The actor also highlighted the challenges faced by single parents, emphasizing that children—particularly boys—benefit from having a father figure in their lives.
