Accord in Osun State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of planning to tamper with the voter register before the August 15, 2026 governorship election. APC has denied the allegation, calling it fabricated.
On Friday, Accord Chairman Pastor Victor Akande released a statement saying the party had discovered evidence of a covert meeting among APC leaders that allegedly instructed INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner Oluwatoyin Babalola to delete specific voters from the register.
Accord said the meeting took place at the Ileri Oluwa campaign office and that a three‑person committee was formed to coordinate with INEC officials in Osun State.
The party alleged that the scheme would selectively delete its members from polling units, targeting at least 75 Accord members and 25 APC members per unit to appear as a technical glitch.
A source also said the new Resident Electoral Commissioner had ordered the head of ICT to execute the alleged changes to the voter register.
Accord said the operation was set to begin in a few days and that a call centre connected to APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji would serve as a coordination hub.
Pastor Akande described the alleged plan as an attempted coup against democracy and the rights of Osun citizens.
He said, “We will remain vigilant against Osun APC’s sinister plot to rig the upcoming polls,” and warned that any attempt to alter the voter register would be opposed.
He urged INEC to stay neutral, noting that the commission must ensure a credible voter register free from partisan manipulation.
Akande cautioned that cooperation between APC and electoral officials could undermine the election’s credibility, urging supporters of democracy to stay alert.
APC responded quickly, dismissing the allegations as false, baseless, and an attempt to mislead the public before the election.
In a statement signed by Director of Media and Information Kola Olabisi, the party said the accusations against its leader Gboyega Oyetola were completely fabricated.
Olabisi said, “It is absolutely false
