Residents of the Byazhin Across area in Kubwa, part of the Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), are once again on edge after a new kidnapping incident that resulted in the death of a local vigilante and the abduction of four people.
According to the DAILY POST, gunmen entered the community near the Catholic Church around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, firing multiple shots as residents fled in fear.
Witnesses say the attackers raided several houses, taking four residents hostage, including an 11‑year‑old child.
One of the abducted vigilante members was shot during the assault and died after being taken to the hospital.
Eyewitnesses also reported that the gunmen stole food supplies from some of the homes before leaving the area.
The incident has deepened concerns among locals, who note that the community has experienced repeated security breaches in recent months.
“This repeated attack on Byazhin Across is causing huge fear in us. Nowhere is safe. President Tinubu, even your FCT is not safe,” one resident said.
Another resident questioned the effectiveness of security patrols, noting that attacks continue despite the presence of armed forces. “The Army only patrol and nothing is done. There’s repeated attack. This time the bandits came with a bus. We are not safe,” the resident said.
