Traditional rulers from various communities in Ibeku Egwu Asaa, located in the Umuahia North local government area of Abia State, have reversed a libation that was reportedly performed against Governor Alex Otti by former Commissioner Charles Ogbonnaya.

In a video that circulated online, Ogbonnaya was seen pouring water on the ground and raising a kola nut while claiming that Governor Otti had denied the ancestors of the land their rights by choosing to conduct Abia State affairs from his private residence in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, rather than from the Government House in Umuahia.

In response, some traditional rulers and community chiefs from Ibeku land performed an additional libation to “nullify and reverse” the earlier prayers of the former Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs.

The monarchs, representing different Ibeku communities, described Ogbonnaya as their esteemed son but stated that his actions had not received their blessing.

They emphasized that it is inappropriate for any individual to perform such traditional rites without the approval or knowledge of the traditional rulers, who are the custodians of the land.

The rulers also expressed pride in Governor Alex Otti’s performance, noting that no one should use the name of Ibeku land to advance political agendas.

“Our son performed a role he was not mandated to perform. We are not dissatisfied with what our son did,” the Ezes said. “He is our distinguished son, but the action he took was not good and was never approved by us, the traditional rulers, the custodians of the land.”

“All evil wine and words against Governor Alex Otti are reversed. It shall be well with Governor Alex Otti,” the Ezes concluded.
