Abia State Government has suspended the Clerk of the State House of Assembly, Mr John Pedro Irokansi, following allegations of misconduct.

The suspension was effected by a letter dated 20 May 2026, signed by the Abia State Head of Service, Mr Benson Ojeikere.

Mr Promise Onwukwe, a Deputy Director in the Legislative Department of the Abia State House of Assembly, has been appointed Acting Clerk with immediate effect.
