Abia government recovers land and vehicles from former officials and others.

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State announced that his administration has reclaimed numerous lands, vehicles, and other government assets that were allegedly misappropriated by officials from previous administrations.

He also noted that some individuals who were previously prevented from accessing Abia State funds have turned to spiritual practices, such as pouring libations, in protest.

The remarks were made in Umuahia on Friday during the May session of the governor’s monthly media briefing.

Governor Otti explained that the vehicles recovered from former public servants have not been auctioned; instead, they have been returned to the state’s ministries and agencies for official use.

He added that individuals who had illegally benefited from public funds have been identified and barred from accessing Abia State property.

According to the governor, some former officials have taken the state to court to contest the recovery of their assets.

“We have recovered a lot of stolen assets, especially lands that were acquired illegally,” he said. “Some of them have approached the court, and we have met them there.”

Otti criticized those who perform libations and other spiritual acts against him, suggesting that their frustration stems from being denied access to state funds.

“When you see people complaining and pouring libations, you realize their mouths have been removed from the feeding bottle,” Governor Otti said.
