Abaribe’s challenger emerge as Erondu clinches APC Abia South ticket

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has concluded its Abia South senatorial district primary election, with the lawmaker representing Obingwa-West in Abia State House of Assembly, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, emerging victorious after securing a commanding lead across the six local government areas in the district.

He scored 16,640 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nyerere Anyim, who got 5,206 votes.

Paul Ikonne scored 4,099 votes while Blessing Nwagba scored 4,456 votes.

The final results were announced at the APC Abia South senatorial district Primary Election Collation Centre in Aba Monday by the collation officer, Prof. Emmanuel Kalu Agbaeze.

According to the collated results, Erondu Jnr. won in all six LGAs of Obingwa, Ugwunagbo, Aba North, Aba South, Ukwa West and Ukwa East, to defeat his opponents, Nyerere Chinenye Anyim, Paul Ikonne, and Blessing Nwagba.

With his victory at the primary election, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jr. is now to face LP Senator, Enyinnaya Abaribe, who also hails from Obingwa LGA.
