Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, said on Tuesday that 80 percent of the projects completed by President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the capital city were initiated by previous administrations.
Wike made the comments during Tinubu’s commissioning of the newly constructed two main carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), from Ring Road 1 Junction, Gudu Cemetery to Ring Road II Junction, Kabusha Junction, and from Gudu Cemetery to Kabusha Junction.
He said: “Your Excellency, I have come to this road inspection at least ten times to see if they will keep the promises that have been made and if they have been kept.”
“I want to sincerely thank the CGC; this shows that nothing is impossible if we are determined and committed to achieving results.”
“Your Excellency, it may interest you to know that this is where we have Apo Mechanics Village. Many governments have promised the informal sector that they would relocate them to a more comfortable area to decongest this road. Those promises have been empty, and I’m sure that those who run businesses in that village will confirm the promise Mr. President made to them when he began inaugurating projects in his first tenure. If we are conservative, at least 80 percent of the projects we have completed were initiated by various administrations. That is leadership.”
“Some people have said there is no need for that; let us start our own. But Mr. President understands these projects.”
