Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume of Borno South confirmed on Saturday that 42 students, including children, were abducted when armed fighters from Boko Haram/ISWAP entered Primary and Junior Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Mussa in Askira-Uba local government area last Friday.

He urged security forces, particularly the Joint Task Force North East under Operation HADIN KAI, to increase efforts to recover the victims.

Ndume described the incident as “barbaric and disheartening,” noting that it has left many parents and guardians in despair.

The senator, whose constituency has faced frequent attacks and destruction—including Thursday’s assault on Chibok communities in Bambatsu and Ngadarma that claimed several lives, including those of elderly residents—highlighted that the Mussa school abduction was especially chilling because it occurred while students were attending early‑morning classes.

He released a signed press statement to journalists in Maiduguri, detailing the numbers: four students were taken from the GDSS (two male and two female), 28 pupils were abducted from the primary section, and 10 children were taken from their homes, bringing the total to 42.

As former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Ndume reiterated his call for the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to intensify rescue operations.

He also expressed condolences to families who lost members in the Chibok attacks and other incidents across the Southern Borno Senatorial District.
