Dele Momodu, a senior figure of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said that Nigerian politicians regard zoning as the sole qualification for winning the presidential election.
He made the comment on Tuesday during a live interview on “Prime Time,” a program broadcast by Arise Television.
The Ovation Magazine publisher noted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu understand that, without emphasizing the zoning narrative, their prospects for victory are uncertain.
Momodu added that the focus on zoning diverts Nigerians’ attention from the country’s substantive problems.
“Politicians now treat zoning as the only credential needed to win presidential elections.”
“It’s a distraction, and I can say it without any fear of contradiction, that it is not what we need at this time.”
“Winning an election is about strategy. However, those who want zoning have the right to their choices,” he concluded.
