Sokoto South Senator Aminu Tambuwal revealed that former presidential contenders Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso departed from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to gauge their popularity.
According to Tambuwal, the switch to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) was not prompted by internal problems within the ADC.
Obi and Kwankwaso had been members of the ADC for only a few months before moving to the NDC.
The former Sokoto State governor made the comments while appearing on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” on Friday.
He stated: “It’s a matter of choice for Peter Obi and Kwankwaso to leave the ADC for the NDC. I do not believe it was because of any crack. I believe they wanted to move to another platform to possibly test their popularity with the Nigerian people during the general elections.”
