2027: LP concludes primary in Abia, affirms Otti as governorship candidate 

The Labour Party (LP) Abia State chapter has confirmed former Governor Alex Otti as its candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

Otti, the sole aspirant in the primary held on Saturday, received 368,213 votes, securing the party’s ticket.

The result was announced by the LP’s Returning Officer for Abia State, Mrs. Oluchi Opara.

The primary took place across the 184 political wards in the state, with a high voter turnout. It was overseen by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies.

In the senatorial race, Enyinnaya Abaribe won the ticket for Abia South, Ogba David Onuoha secured the LP senatorial nomination for Abia North, and Darlington Nwokocha was chosen for Abia Central.

After receiving his Certificate of Return, Governor Otti praised the peaceful and violence‑free nature of the LP primary in the state.

He thanked party members for maintaining unity during a period of crisis and urged all LP candidates to work diligently to secure victory in the 2027 elections.
