Former Minister of Information Labaran Maku, Senator Ishaku Abbo, Emmanuel Ben, Adamu Bako Blanzou, and Jesse James Ayenajeh are among the high‑profile Nigerians who have taken the Labour Party’s (LP) expression of interest and nomination forms to run for various offices ahead of the 2027 elections.
Maku has chosen the LP form for the Nasarawa North Senatorial District. Abbo selected the form for the governorship of Adamawa State. Ben opted to contest the governorship of Akwa Ibom State. Blanzou is running for the House of Representatives seat covering the Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency, while Ayenajeh has taken the nomination for the House seat representing the Toto Federal Constituency in Nasarawa State.
These candidates represent a cross‑section of the country, spanning both northern and southern regions, and they converged on the party’s secretariat to secure the necessary forms for their respective contests.
Shortly after receiving his nomination, Maku told reporters that he is highly confident in the Labour Party’s prospects for the upcoming elections.
“The Labour Party has won the confidence and support of Nigerians, and I am convinced that the party will emerge victorious in the next general elections, from the presidency to the governorship elections,” he said.
He added that the party “has firmly established itself as a household name in many states, particularly in Nasarawa State and across my senatorial district, where the people remain determined to ensure the victory of the party in the forthcoming senatorial and other elections in the state.”
Abbo echoed this optimism, praising the growing momentum of the Labour Party and commending National Chairman Nenadi Usman for the leadership that has revitalised and repositioned the party. He also expressed confidence in the LP’s prospects in Adamawa State and the wider North‑East region.
