2027: How opposition would’ve given Tinubu sleepless night – APC chieftain, Jibrin

Abdulmumin Jibrin, a former member of the House of Representatives from Kano State, said that a united opposition could have kept President Bola Tinubu and the APC on edge in 2027.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the ex‑lawmaker claimed Tinubu would defeat the opposition that year.

Jibrin explained, “The more they come out, the better the chances of Tinubu. The more they increase in number to contest, the better the chances.” He added that a coordinated effort among opposition groups would have forced the president to work harder.

“If the opposition had all come out to work together and did exactly what Tinubu did in 2015—bringing Buhari, members of the National Assembly, and Southwest governors together, targeting the governors they needed, and ultimately securing five governorships—he would have kept the opposition tight. Today, that unity is missing,” Jibrin said.

He warned that a divided opposition would split its votes in 2027, while the president’s vote share would remain intact. “Even if they come all together, the president would still defeat them,” he added.
