Manir Muhammad Dan'iya, former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, has been chosen as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The announcement was made on Friday through a statement released by his former press secretary, Aminu Abubakar.
Dan'iya, who served as deputy under former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, expressed gratitude to party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters for their confidence.
He said his selection carries a significant responsibility and pledged to promote unity, stability, and development in Sokoto State.
Dan'iya thanked Tambuwal for his support and political guidance, noting that the backing from party stakeholders, youth and women groups, and political associates reflected a shared vision for the state's future.
He described the ADC movement as a platform centered on inclusive leadership, good governance, and people‑oriented policies for the upcoming election.
He urged supporters to remain peaceful and united as political consultations continue before the polls.
Reports indicate that at least ten aspirants, including former Ambassador to Jordan Faruk Malami Yabo, had expressed interest in the ADC governorship ticket.
