Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, the former PDP gubernatorial candidate in 2023, announced that he will run again in the 2027 Ebonyi State election, asserting that his mandate will not be taken away.

He said he is contesting the governorship because the lives of residents and the state’s economy have not improved.

After submitting his nomination forms and being cleared by the PDP’s screening panel at Legacy House in Abuja, the party leader told reporters that Ebonyi State urgently needs leadership.

Odii noted that since the 2023 general election, poverty has risen in Ebonyi even though the state has received large federal allocations, and that the state urgently requires a leader capable of driving economic and human‑capital development.

He added that poverty and insecurity have continued to grow, prompting him to seek a different outcome.

He emphasized that a robust opposition is essential for democratic progress and welcomed any constructive opposition.

He warned that a government or society that rejects opposition would be a dictatorship and would not be tolerated in Ebonyi State.

He announced, “We are here today to inform the world that ‘Anyichuks’ is running for governor of Ebonyi State.”

He said, “When people say you are not from the North or not from Izzi, I am from Ebonyi State, from before Izzi, from Onicha local government, and I was born a citizen of Ebonyi State. Ebonyi will not be governed by clannish politics.”

Odii expressed confidence that he will win the PDP primary and assured the party and his supporters that their mandate will not be stolen in 2027.
