2027: Former AGF Malami Emerges as ADC Candidate for Kebbi Governorship

Abubakar Malami, SAN, former Attorney‑General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has been chosen as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Kebbi State governorship race in the 2027 general elections.

The decision was announced on Sunday by Mohammed Bello Doka, Special Assistant on Media to Malami, in a statement released by the party.

According to the statement, Malami’s nomination followed consultations with party leaders, stakeholders and supporters throughout the state in preparation for the upcoming election.

Malami thanked the party’s leadership and supporters for the confidence placed in him, saying: “I sincerely appreciate the confidence and support shown by leaders, stakeholders, and supporters of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Kebbi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

The statement also listed other ADC candidates for key positions: retired Major General Aminu Bande for the Kebbi Central Senatorial District, retired Deputy Comptroller General Ibrahim Muhammad Mera for the Kebbi North Senatorial District, and Garba Danjuma Limi for the Kebbi South Senatorial District.

Doka noted that the ADC remains committed to promoting good governance, justice, security and sustainable development in Kebbi State and nationwide.

Malami, who served as Attorney‑General under former President Muhammadu Buhari, is expected to contest the governorship against incumbent Governor Nasir Idris of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
