ABAKALIKI — Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State called on residents to overlook the shortcomings of his administration and those of elected lawmakers, urging them to back the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
The appeal was made during a democracy thanksgiving service at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki, marking the third anniversary of his tenure.
Addressing worshippers, government officials, political stakeholders and religious leaders, the governor acknowledged that his administration, the National Assembly, and the Ebonyi State House of Assembly may have made mistakes while serving the people.
He urged citizens to forgive those errors and continue to support their elected representatives.
“Please forgive us; forgive me and the National Assembly members and the House of Assembly members. Forgive our shortcomings and vote for us again,” the governor said.
Reflecting on his three years in office, Nwifuru thanked God for the achievements of his administration, emphasizing that governance is a continuous learning process that demands humility, commitment and public understanding.
The governor admitted that no administration can claim perfection but assured the people that his government remains dedicated to improving service delivery, expanding infrastructure, and delivering more dividends of democracy across the state.
He reaffirmed his administration’s determination to sustain ongoing development programmes and initiatives aimed at enhancing residents’ welfare.
The thanksgiving service was attended by prominent political leaders, including former governors of the state such as the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and Martin Elechi. Serving senators, government officials and other stakeholders were also present.
