Former Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal has warned that the 2027 general elections will differ from the 2023 polls.
Speaking on Politics Today on Friday, Tambuwal said the political landscape is already shifting in anticipation of 2027.
“Politics is dynamic, and virtually everything about people is dynamic. 2027 may not necessarily be a replay of the 2023 elections,” he remarked.
The ex‑Speaker of the House of Representatives highlighted that new alliances and changing interests among politicians and voters will shape the next election in a different way.
He also drew a comparison between the upcoming contest and the 1979 presidential election, which featured figures such as Shehu Shagari, Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe.
“I see a replay of 1979 in 2027 rather than the 2023 general elections. You wait and see. The dynamics today are different,” Tambuwal added.
Having recently moved from the Peoples Democratic Party to the African Democratic Congress, Tambuwal said he would withhold support for any presidential candidate until after the party primaries conclude.
