 APGA affirms Danjuma Shiddi as Taraba governorship candidate

JALINGO — The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially confirmed Hon. Danjuma Shiddi as its candidate for the 2027 general election for governor of Taraba State.

Shiddi was chosen during a primary election and candidate confirmation exercise that took place in Jalingo. The party also finalized candidates for several legislative positions, including seats in the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Taraba State House of Assembly.

APGA National Vice Chairman for the North‑East, Aminu Hamanjoda Furo, described the process as peaceful, transparent and orderly. He praised party members for their conduct and highlighted the contributions of women, youths and security agencies in ensuring a smooth event.

Other candidates announced by the party include Alhaji Ali Sani Kona for the Taraba North Senatorial District, Hon. Patrick Umar for the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency, Salihu Ibrahim for the Jalingo I State Constituency, and Cyprian David Kamai for the Jalingo II State Constituency.

In his acceptance speech, Danjuma Shiddi thanked party members and supporters for their confidence in him, stating that his emergence reflects the trust and belief the people place in his leadership. He pledged to pursue governance reforms and policies aimed at accelerating socio‑economic development across the state if elected.

Shiddi also urged eligible residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) before the 2027 elections, emphasizing that the ballot remains the most effective tool for democratic change.

Expressing optimism about APGA’s prospects, he said the party is well positioned to win the governorship election and other contests in the state.
