The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has cleared Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Dennis Guwor, and 45 other aspirants for the Assembly election primaries.
This announcement followed a two‑day screening of aspirants held at the APC Secretariat in Asaba.
The screening committee issued a statement, signed by Chairman Dr Uche Uzochukwu and Secretary Dr Chiedozie Nwafor, which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Asaba on Wednesday.
The committee reported that 82 aspirants presented themselves to the panel before the party’s primary election.
It disclosed that 46 aspirants were cleared after a detailed verification of credentials and eligibility.
The committee disqualified 36 aspirants for alleged irregularities and violations of party guidelines.
It noted that Guwor was the sole aspirant cleared for Warri South‑West.
Among those cleared were 17 serving lawmakers of the eighth Assembly who sought to renew their mandates, and three former commissioners who also secured clearance to continue in the race.
They are Funyei Manager of Bomadi, Harry Trakirlowei of Patani, and Orode Uduaghan of Warri North.
