Brazil goalkeeper Alisson Becker has voiced firm confidence ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Group C opener against Morocco.
The match will pit five‑time World Cup champions Brazil against a Moroccan side that captured worldwide attention with their historic semi‑final run in 2022.
While the Seleção seeks to correct the quarter‑final exit in Qatar four years ago, the Atlas Lions face a daunting task in attempting to replicate their surprise semi‑final performance.

Unfazed by external pressures and expectations, Alisson said that not being universally named the favourites could actually benefit Brazil, citing the country’s history of success when expectations are moderated.
“What really matters is the condition you are in at the first game. We are ready,” he said.
“This last cycle was hard; we felt it deeply. But everything started to get better once Ancelotti arrived. He has a very strong presence in the group and gives us tranquillity to work.”
Alisson added that 67‑year‑old Ancelotti had focused on strengthening the team’s defence, which has often been vulnerable.
“Some of those goals could have been avoided. We are working on it, because the World Cup is a short tournament. We know we will always have chances to score because of the quality of the team,” he said.

Brazil is the most successful nation in World Cup history, having played 114 games, won 74, and claimed five titles—more than any other country—and is the only nation to have competed in every edition since the inaugural tournament in 1930.
However, they have not lifted the trophy since 2002; their current 24‑year drought matches the length of their previous dry spell between 1970 and 1994, which ended on American soil.
