Former Super Eagles star defender Ifeanyi Udeze has said South Africa’s Bafana Bafana have nothing to offer at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Udeze made this submission following Bafana Bafana’s defeat to World Cup host Mexico in the opening match of the tournament.

Julián Quiñones got the co-hosts to the perfect start by hitting a powerful shot home after centre midfielder Yaya Sithole was caught taking a heavy touch 20 yards from goal, and came close to a second when he hit the base of the post.

Former Fulham striker Raul Jiménez headed in the second to put the game beyond doubt either side of red cards.

The game saw three red cards as Sithole and Themba Zwane were sent off while Mexico’s César Montes was also given his marching order late in the game.

Reflecting on the defeat to Mexico, Udeze said on BRILA FM:”They will not go past the group stage they have nothing to offer. They didn’t play as a team I know it’s not easy to play against hosts nations but at least there should be signs.

Udeze stated that the Bafana reminded him of the Super Eagles side that featured at the 2002 World Cup co-hosted by South Korea and Japan.

He added:”They didn’t show anything, the South African team remind me of the Super Eagles of 2002 World Cup, I was part of the team and I know what I’m saying, the team lacked everything.”
