A 2025 video of a prophetess warning of danger for Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo and his companions has re‑emerged, prompting extensive discussion on social media about the role of prophecies and the controversies surrounding celebrities.
The clip, which is circulating on X (formerly Twitter), features the prophetess stating that the actor and several close associates require serious prayers to prevent a tragedy.
The resurfacing of the video coincides with renewed online conversation about the actor’s death, drawing fresh attention from fans.
According to the prophetess, Alex Ekubo is surrounded by “strange waters” on a spiritual level and needs divine intervention together with three of his close friends.
“It’s bright this year. People are going to be talking about Alex Ekubo and his friends, his two young friends,” she said in the video.
“That one, Alex, has a call with some strange waters around him, and him and his three friends. I know that they prayed.
They should pray against him, one of them being looked for in less than two years.”
The renewed prophecy generated mixed reactions online, with users debating whether such predictions should be taken seriously or dismissed as fear‑driven statements.
One commenter, Santa Antas, responded humorously while expressing concern over celebrity prophecies.
“Time don reach to take this woman seriously o.. She don talk about my beloved Davido before? Make I enter prayer mode sharply,” the user wrote, referencing Nigerian music star Davido.
Another user, Oghene Tega, questioned the spiritual source of such prophecies and emphasized that practical solutions matter more than predictions.
“Familiar spirit prophecy too. Demons prophecy too. Witches prophecy too so star gazers prophecy too. The real thing is that preventing the thing from happening is the real thing, The solution is the real thing,” the comment read.
Kingsley, a further commenter, accused the prophetess of consistently issuing bleak predictions about celebrities whenever rumors surface online.
“Bro, what this woman does is to predict death/calamity whenever there are rumors in the media about any celebrity being sick. She no dey ever see good prophecies. Na only doom,” he wrote.
Conversely, a user identified as Isemin defended the prophecy, arguing that prophetic messages are intended to provide spiritual guidance rather than satisfy personal ego.
“Prophecies are not made to suit ur ego, rather it’s for direction and guidance. The woman delivered the message the way God gave to him,” the user stated.
