A 16‑year‑old Nigerian student, Owoeye Daniella Jesudunsin, achieved the highest overall score in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with 372 marks out of a possible 400.
The result was announced at the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Abuja, where the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) released the list of top candidates.
Daniella’s Outstanding Performance
Daniella, a native of Ekiti State who took the exam in Ogun State, intends to apply for Medicine and Surgery at the University of Lagos.
Her subject scores were 98 in English Language, 98 in Chemistry, 94 in Physics, and 82 in Biology.
Commenting on the achievement, Daniella noted that the 2026 UTME was not her first attempt.
“I Experienced Glitches Last Year”
She explained that she also sat for the UTME in 2025 but was unable to secure admission because of technical problems at her examination centre.
In her own words:
“This isn’t my first UTME. I graduated from secondary school last year, so I sat for the UTME last year. I couldn’t gain admission due to the glitches I experienced in my exam centre, which affected my result.”
Daniella said her preparation for the 2026 exam began while she was studying for the previous one, and she thanked EFVP Wisdom Spring Model School for its role in her success.
She added that she set an ambitious target for herself.
“I was aiming for nothing less than 350, so I fixed my goal at 370+,” she said.
