112 Kwara police officers complete combat training.

On Friday, 112 junior police officers—30 corporals and 82 constables—completed an intensive two‑week Combat Operations Training Programme in Kwara State.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, told reporters in Ilorin on Friday that the programme represented another milestone in Inspector‑General Olatunji Rilwan Disu’s effort to create a more professional, combat‑ready, and operationally effective police force.

He added that the training, held at the Police Training School in Ilorin, was designed to sharpen the tactical skills of rank‑and‑file officers through intensive practical and classroom instruction.

The participants received specialized instruction in tactical firearm handling, combat craft, rescue operations, tactical movement, rules of engagement, use of force, ambush and counter‑ambush tactics, officer safety, and other modern policing strategies needed to confront emerging security threats.

At the closing ceremony, state Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo praised the officers’ remarkable improvement, discipline, and coordination during the training.

He noted that the participants’ enhanced tactical proficiency demonstrates the importance of continuous professional development and operational readiness in contemporary policing.

Ojo added that the training aligns with Inspector‑General Disu’s vision to institutionalize intelligence‑led policing, boost operational effectiveness, and strengthen personnel’s capacity to respond decisively to security challenges.

He urged the officers to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the training to enhance public safety and combat crime throughout the state.
