The suit brought before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja by the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Ondo State, Dr. Segun Abraham against the election of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) will commence on April 18, 2018.
Abraham is challenging the emergence of the governor as the APC flag bearer for the 2016 governorship poll in Ondo State and is urging the court to declare him the winner of the primary.
The hearing notice has been served on all concerned parties by the court presided over by Justice Nnamdi Dimgba.
The commencement of the suit followed the judgment of the Supreme Court that Akeredolu’s appeal was without merit and could not stop the case from being heard at the Federal High Court.
The Apex Court dismissed Akeredolu’s appeal for lacking in merit.
Akeredolu had, by the appeal, challenged the July 2017 judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which upheld an order by a Federal High Court in Abuja, granting permission to Olusegun Abraham to serve him court processes through substituted means.
Abraham had approached the court with a suit seeking to be declared the winner of the September 3, 2016, APC primary election and subsequently sworn in to replace Akeredolu as governor of Ondo State.
He is alleging that a doctored delegates’ list was used to manipulate the election in favour of Akeredolu.
