Bananas are edible fruits and are one of the world’s most appealing fruits. As they ripen the starch is converted to sugar which makes the fruit sweet. Bananas are an excellent source of potassium and vitamin B6, fibre and supplies vitamin C. Since they have a lower water content than most fruits, Bananas have more calories as well as higher sugar content compounds than other non tropical fruits. Bananas are grown in hot climates and do not naturally like cold, if kept in a fridge, the enzymes that cause them to ripen are destroyed causing them to have black stains

Green bananas are also a good source of pectin, a type of dietary fibre found in fruits which helps them keep their structural form. Pectin breaks down when a banana becomes over ripe and causes the fruit to become softer. Bananas have a district a firm but creamy flesh inside a thick inedible peel. People think of banana as having yellow skin,their color changes from green (unripe) to yellow (ripe) then to brown over ripped.

Although it looks like a tree, The banana is a plant and grows 15 metres and belongs to the same family as lily and orchid. The most popular type of banana is the large, yellow smooth skinned variety, and is usually eaten raw. The larger green bananas are known as plantains, plantain bananas are prepared in a similar way as vegetables, they are either roasted cooked or fried.
